Wysteria

by Lee Anne Kortus

Many hours of painting in Photoshop...I've worked on this off and on for about 6 months from sketch to finish. I wanted this to have a timeless feel to it. The surroundings were something I wanted to be reminiscent of Savannah or New Orleans...both cities that have that 'timeless' feel. There is a song I love by the late, great, Dan Fogelberg called "Wysteria" that was a big inspiration in this piece...it has a melancholy and mysterious air to it and I wanted that mood captured here. I have learned a lot of new digital painting techniques in this and other magazines and many of them, particularly the ones on painting skin, and the ones on doing shading and shadows helped me a lot!
